Katherine and John David’s Wedding | Beaufort, SC

Weddings

March 2, 2021

I am so excited for you to see the wedding that rounded out 2020 for me! Katherine was one of the first clients to inquire with me after I moved my business to Charleston. It was definitely scary to be putting myself out there in a completely new place, but working with this couple proved to be the most perfect start to my new chapter as a Charleston photographer! From my first conversation with Katherine, it truly felt like I was working with a friend I had known for years because of the way that we just clicked! I wouldn’t meet her fiance, JD, until a few months later, but from getting to know Katherine I had a pretty good feeling we were all a good match for one another!

Since JD had been stationed in California throughout his and Katherine’s engagement, we didn’t think they would be able to have an engagement session. But then to my surprise, we were able to squeeze a lovely engagement session in for them a few days before the wedding, and I’m so glad that we did so that I could really get to know them as a couple before the wedding!

Every wedding day carries a feeling of excitement and anticipation, but that feeling was exponentially more obvious on Katherine and JD’s wedding day. Their entire relationship had been long distance, which made their wedding day that much more special! It was unmistakable throughout the entire day that they were so genuinely grateful to be starting their life together and getting the time together that they had waited for so patiently!

Every piece of the wedding day from the venue to the ceremony and even the decor was such a testament to who Katherine and JD are. Their wedding contained lots of little personal touches provided by loved ones to show their support of the happy couple in a really meaningful way.

Many of the family members and attendees either had served or were serving in the military. This meant that they were coming from all across the country to witness Katherine and JD’s wedding. There were so many moments throughout this wedding day where I would just stop, look around, and be in awe at the tangible sense of love and community among Katherine, JD, and all of their loved ones.

Enjoy some of my favorite parts of this beautiful Christmas wedding! Congratulations Katherine and JD, and blessings to you as you begin your life together in California!!

Marriage looks so good on these two!
The sweetest wedding favors- ornaments that Katherine’s grandmother makes for each of her grandchildren’s weddings
In Katherine’s family, they have a wedding reception tradition of inviting all current and retired military members to the dance floor and everyone sings God Bless the USA together. Such a heartfelt and touching moment!
A sparkler send-off and then one last prayer over the couple to end the night

Cheers to the newlyweds!
