Katie and Thomas are one of those go-with-the-flow, up-for-anything couples which made spending the evening with them on Hatteras Island so much fun! Nick and I caught up with them for a photo session while we were in the Outer Banks for Spring break and it was one of the highlights of our trip!
Even though Katie and Thomas live quite a few hours from OBX, they squeezed in a pit stop on Hatteras Island on their way to Ocracoke Island, and I’m so grateful they did! We started off our evening at Hatteras Landing Marina and eventually made our way to the beach- which is actually just across the street because the island is so narrow!
This session was a bit challenging from a photography standpoint! Because I am a natural light photographer, I tend to schedule most photo sessions around sunset (or sunrise) for the best lighting. However, on this particular day we were dealing with low-lying clouds that rolled in just a few minutes before our session began. Low-lying clouds are common at the beach and essentially make it appear as if the sun is setting earlier than it actually is. Even a few minutes can make a huge difference in these instances, so we were working against the clock to fit in as much as we could before we lost our light!
Thankfully, with the light reflecting off the sand and water, we were able to create some beautiful images and had so much fun doing it!
Katie and Thomas, thank you so much for spending the evening with us during your little weekend getaway!
I hope you enjoy getting a little peek into this gorgeous waterfront couples session!
